Sue Arnold

Counsellor and Supervisor

If you are reading this you are probably looking for help for yourself or someone you are close to. As you will already have realised, there are many counsellors with different ways of working. The most important factor in any successful counselling is to feel you can form a good relationship with your therapist, so that together you can explore what is happening for you and how you want to deal with it.

Counselling

I am a BACP senior accredited counsellor. I am also a UKCP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor.  I offer face to face and online counselling Having worked for a long time at depth with clients often over a period of several years, I realised that I needed a change and a challenge in my practice. I believe it is important to take time to reflect and re-evaluate in order to remain energetic and enthusiastic. As a result I now offer time limited focussed work, integrating different therapy models and coaching principles to facilitate growth and change.  I work in a confidential way in line with the ethical guidelines of the BACP and UKCP

Supervision

I am a qualified supervisor with 20 years experience of working with both individuals and groups. I work with both qualified counsellors and trainees and offer face to face and online supervision.

Therapy Sessions
My Approach

Counselling is a very individual experience and it can be difficult to find a way through pain and uncertainty.

Our initial session would be a structured exploration of where you find yourself and what change you are hoping for. I will explore background to help put the present into context. By the end of the first meeting we would aim to decide whether short term work is appropriate for the issues you are facing. If it seems like you would benefit from a more exploratory approach then we can discuss how you might find the right help. If a short term focussed approach seems helpful then we can plan a way forward.

This way of working is most useful for you if you are facing a specific difficulty or challenge and want to explore the best way to approach things. It can also be helpful if you have had experience of in depth therapy in the past and are looking for a space to reflect on how to move forward as life changes.
I offer both face to face and online counselling. It is also possible to mix the two where appropriate.
